There is fluid storage and electro maganets. so when the clutch needs engaged, the fluid fills the gas and electric field is applied so the fluid truns to solid. But i was looking it as a potential buy as my wife gets her license.<br /><br />The other ones i look at that time mostly will be C max hybrid. Others of interest are Mazda 5, Kia Rhondo.<br /><br /><br />Most things seems Orlando is good but couple of concerns ( love if they have them )<br /><br />1)Sliding doors - This is one of the best stuff in minivans. Imagine kid in one hand, another kid or a pop corn in another , Do you like to hold the door or you look for a sliding door. Same in a thin parking lot.<br /><br />2) Removable seats/Configurable seats : This is another big concern and a need. When you need to get some soil from home depot, first thing is to move out the seats , put some cover and use the minivan. Same case when i am doing my occasional home projects, getting logs, getting cement, tools etc etc. So we need to remove the seats, and put them back once the duty is done<br /><br />Again this gives freedom to configure as a 5 seat when i have a dog in with family, or carry some some stuff.<br /><br />3) Hybrid engine : Yes , Gas prices are going north. So always economic is great. Its nice to have economic hybrid -say like Voltec CS mode or HSD ( i wont say eAssist because it doesn't have good city numbers and combined numbers .I look for more real world). Ford C max targeting 41 mpg , it should be better /equal to this number.<br /><br />4) Limited 4x4 - for places where snow is a factor or black ice is a factor, the vehicle requires a 4x4.<br /><br />Let be it more a mini van than an SUV.<br /><br />Am i worried its using cruze platform ?? - never , worried on 15 inch wheels ?? never , i would love it because curze platform because its a proven one, 15 inch wheels because its low riding because i don't intend to use it a full time off roader or so. Insurance Up :-(<br /><br />Thought may propose some ideas to ICBC to reduce the carbon foot print and using things efficiently.<br /><br />First thing i looked at my office cars. 95% comprised of midsize cars, minivans / suv/ crossovers ,<br /><br />All of them coming to office with one person on morning and one person back home. So why they need big cars - because they work for family and for family they want big cars. If they go for a 2 seater commuter car, insurance will be greater than adding extra gas on a big car.<br /><br />So increase insurance cost on big vehicles ? already we pay double than US.<br /><br />Another idea ?<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Allow people to register multiple cars on same plate ( ex: a commuter car and a minivan), with say an increase of storage insurance cost . </span><br /><br />Advantage : when people are going alone or only carrying one person with them, the commuter cars will be used. So normal office less cost drive , less gas, less pollution and no compromise on convenience<span style="font-weight: bold;">. </span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Ok, so what should define a commuter car : This is a the key : Set 70 mpg (US) combined mileage for ICE , Hybrids etc. Add range extenders/EV from 60 kms EV kms (say 40 mile EV range ). No other qualifies for commuter car. Make the mpg and EV miles a moving standard , so this is for 2011 and 2012, 2013 standards will be announced nearing to that time and so on . I will explain later what's the problem.<br />2) Targeted contents<br /><br />OK, so now i explain the dislike on the interface.<br /><br />The problem i think is vision less or non creative UI designers. People just follow whatever others do. So Netflix changed its interface just following windows mobile style. You may think why its bad ?<br /><br />So lets look at the new GUI trend.<br />This GUI design trend is called Every thing in single window. So people doesn't need to switch interfaces. Just get every thing in one page. Like New Movies, New TV and then recommendations based on the content you watched.<br /><br />Problem ? Single window GUI is nice if i can configure what content i can watch, ex: i like to see all the Hindi movies available but now no way in GUI, same happens for a french or any other language. So single window GUI is good if i can configure what i want to watch. If some one is deciding its sad :-(. Now you know the problem, no way to get the content we want. Search is there but its not giving what i want.<br /><br />So if they change some more power to consumer to configure the interface, It will be great :-)<br /><br />Second dislike :<br /><br />Look for some movie, you don't get it. We mostly will have battery break troughs which may make EVs cheap and fast chargeable. <br />I am not sure but the buzz looks graphene based stuff may do a sweep ( already they have graphene supercapacitors which stores as much energy per unit mass as nickel metal hydride batteries). so expecting it to find place in EVs<br /><br />4) I think cars will changed a lot , small cars will switch to EVs and trucks to range extenders/Phevs - this is one of the big possibility. May not every one come with a prototype but i think for sure , tests will start.<br /><br /> 5) TV - this is again going to be full internet based. The traditional cable companies are going to be looking more of home phone operations /wireless operations to provide connectivity. Even the concept of home phones are going to be less. more switching to mobile. 3D - no big sales till hologramic ones are out. Then i started thinking of how that pump works.<br /><br />The motor produces rotary motion and that motion need to converted to a flow and finally move water from one place to another.<br /><br /><br />It was fun to think like a child. I started thinking i have 2 buckets, one placed down with water and second one placed above me which does not have water. I have straws from both in my hand. Its nice to imagine, I suck from on straw and then spit to second. so in total the actions i need is use my both thumps to close ends of straws to avoid air entering/water coming out and then suck and spit. <br /><br /> The action in a procedural way<br /><br />1) Close both ends of straws with thumps<br />2) Open thump1 and suck from the straw which is from the bucket with water.<br />3) Close thump1 and open the other thump<br />4) Spit water to that straw and close thump2.<br />5) Repeat step 2,3,4 again and again till the water finishes.<br /><br />So we found 2 valves, one chamber, a Piston and rad can covert rotatory motion to water flow. May be one design for a pump ( seems this was invented in late 1800s ) and we never think how things works. <br /><br /><br />Just taking the comforts for granted. Last day while playing with kid, he was asking me to do stamping, and then we did it on different patterns. Then i was talking to wife about Chinese and English languages where Chinese consists of words and not alphabets. I told they have a problems with new words. Wife told it may be really tough to remember all the words.<br /><br />Then i started thinking, all the key board may started as stamping in a sequence. But what may be the requirement ? different hand writing ?, standardizing the handwriting ? may be. But i am sure people wont be able to do sequence stamping faster than a person writing.<br /><br />Then somebody came up with an abstraction for sequence stamping - which is called as a key board - Some blog told key board was invented 52 times to reach the current state. Now who needs to think of sequence stamping ?<br /><br />Time changed, the underlying mechanisms changed still the abstraction remained and found place in the new generation devices like computers.<br /><br />Same is the case of world. Almost all primary skills changed but the abstractive skills remained. People learned the new abstractive skills and relayed on them for the existence. Then we create derivate abstractions from primary abstractions and the derivate abstraction creates new skills and we learn them and move ahead. Always news skills born then specializations happened and the derivative abstractions occurred. We found design patterns and new abstractions and created new skills. Lets say we want to increase the tow capacity on a particular profile. The same Electric motor + ICE works but if the truck is going a steep - as per the previous theory , the entire load will shift to electric motors as speed decreases. So by introducing a fixed gear system, the load requirement gets supported by ICE and Electric motors which helps to add more weight capability.<br /><br />So this can work across all profiles. I found a nice way to tackle it in our hybrid concept by introducing profiles.<br /><br />example:<br /><ul><li>Commuter Profile</li><li>Auto profile</li></ul><br />The commuter profile makes the 5 cylinder engine to operate only 3 (or even 2 ) of its cylinders and use electric motors to support at extra power needs (similar to HSD/ BAS+ hybrid of GM ) which uses electric motor for low speeds, ICE at optimal rpm - gen, ICE at optimal rpm and ICE + electric motor for acceleration /up hills and regeneration at breaking.<br /><br />The other idea is to support this profile with an aerodynamic canopy ( factory designed with canopy to have max aero effect on the optimal rpm /speed ) for better fuel efficiency.<br /><br />So this takes off the worry daily commuter to have the truck or if truck is running long one side without any load and use the power only when its needed than running all cylinders all time. ( example a 3.7 ltr 5 cylinder engine, operating with 3 cylinder mode will have almost 2.22 ltr + electric motor power available - so it should offer better power and fuel economy than a 2.4 ltr 4 cylinder engined equinox ) . This should be good power for even 4 people drive + some loads ( remember equinox 2.4 ltr has a tow capacity of 1500 pounds.)<br /><br />The Auto profile is to choose the ICE and electric motor combinations only according to the pre-programmed logic.<br /><br />Its better to have more profiles to optimize the use resources more effectively ( like a medium mode ( 4 people / light load ) , tow mode ( fully loaded / tow ) etc.<br />1500<br /><br />The base idea is like electric grid communication , use only optimal resources for any situation and save the rest. ( 1+ 4 = 5 and 5 cylinder, so numerology matches ). May its better to put something like an 3 or a 5 (for numerology sake) letter acronym which can be pronounced easier.<br /><br />One question may be why 5 cylinder : look at <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight-five_engine">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight-five_engine</a> for more details.<br /><br /><br />In practical tests may be "'x' Cylinder + electric motor + Generator" mode need to be reconsidered based on the efficiency it can achieve. But its all depends on the control logic which is programmed by a firmware to activate and use the mode. On a transmission design point, all the modes should be possible without further hardware change.<br /><br />The ICE should be optimized for peak efficiency and fixed rpm range and rest all should be handled with the Electric motor/Generator . The transmission need to designed so that it can have a trans output as a function of ice rpm, Electric motor and Generator. The existing technologies which is used in the 2 mode system (like active fuel management ,variable valve timing,direct injection etc) should make this.<br /><br /><br />One update is to make more modes with introduction of turbo charging . The modes will be increased to around 23 modes (2 + 3 = 5 again another numerology works) - which should be able to reduce the 3.7 ltr engine to a 2.5 ltr engine ( still 5 cylinder )<br /><br />If this can be done, i am sure the design can achieve a very high fuel economy without sacrificing any power and will be good in emissions as it runs in optimal way all the time/modes.<br /><br /><br />How GM can do it ? Optimizing the 2 mode system and use the existing 3.7 ltr engine which goes in H3/Colorado. What is takes its only some time ,experiment spirit and test. If somebody from GM looked on this well, i am sure they would have understood what needed to be done and how they should have done incremental updates to it.<br /><br />Finally i spend a bit time reading IIHS Crash tests and Chevolet colorados performace ( hits bottom ). I believe the new GM should have learned to have quality vehicles than cheap vehicles. So i decided to do a small contribution for a 2011 Chevolet colorado design. With this concept all 4 seats in a car get one personal zone each. A personal zone consists of a multi touch display, and HDMI port to connect , A smart phone connector , a Bluetooth connection to a head set, HVOC controls ( software ) and setting etc. The car can have 2 personal zones at back and this can be extended to one front seat also without personal display ( he can use the centre console and share with driver as a display can distract the driver ). Other than the display all other comforts can be extended to the front seats. So every one can listen to the music they want and use the apps they like and have the HVOC setting they want without disturbing the other. Same time they should be able to use<br />the display as one and can watch/ use bigs creen. On other thoughts , Putting a hybrid power train may increase the fuel economy and EV ranges.<br /><br />The basic idea is the reduce the frontal area - for CdA (mostly airfoiled frontal area and reduced the back area ) and increase/optimize the curves over top,down and sides to that they can contribute forward pull using aerodynamics. The top,sides and bottom curves seems much important as they can give resulting forward moving forces. The bottom (down part ) curve may help more to push to front and same time balance the extra down (vertical component ) of the force made by the top curve. Because its for a 10 mile range, we assume the battery costs are less. We even  think it can be a ultra capacitor also because we need a device which can store and provide energy for the vehicle to travel 10 miles electrically.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The first step is a test EV ( electric vehicle ) which as capability to record the power used by the electric engine on a defined cycle. A cycle is a defined patten of driving for a particular time period. </div><div><br /></div><div>The Test  Ev will have the exact motor configuration we plan to have in our final product.</div><div>Example One motor 2 rear wheels ( say 90kw) and 2 in wheel motors ( 30kw ) for the 2 front wheels.</div><div><br /></div><div>This configuration gives the advantages of rear wheel drive and on required conditions the front wheels can act and get <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">AWD</span> advantages. Lets first explain a four stroke engine </div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Four stoke engine</span> consists of </div><div>  Intake stroke</div><div>  Compression stroke</div><div>  Power stroke</div><div>  Exhaust stroke</div><div><br /></div><div>In intake stroke, the air is taking in then compress the air ,fuel gets injected to the compressed air and then ignited results in the power stroke and after the compression stroke the exhaust gases will be removed in the exhaust stroke. Its all fine and give 35-37% efficiency.</div><div><br /></div><div>One of the problem is the heat is never utilized for any purpose.  So the idea of six stroke engine came in.</div><div> </div><div>The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">six-stroke engine</span> is a type of internal combustion engine based on the four-stroke engine, but with additional complexity to make it more efficient and reduce emissions. </div><div><br /></div><div>Two different types of six-stroke engine have been developed since the 1990s:</div><div><br /></div><div>In the first approach, the engine captures the heat lost from the four-stroke Otto cycle or Diesel cycle and uses it to power an additional power and exhaust stroke of the piston in the same cylinder. Designs use either steam or air as the working fluid for the additional power stroke. As well as extracting power, the additional  stroke cools the engine and removes the need for a cooling system, making the engine lighter and giving an estimated efficiency of 40%. The pistons in this type of six-stroke engine go up and down six times for each injection of fuel.</div><div><br /></div><div> There are two power strokes: one with fuel, the other with steam or air.</div><div><br /></div><div>The second approach to the six-stroke engine uses a second opposed piston in each cylinder that moves at half the cyclical rate of the  main piston, thus giving six piston movements per cycle. Functionally, the second piston replaces the valve mechanism of a conventional  engine but also increases the compression ratio. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I started thinking more in this direction and found another way called <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">NP Stroke engine</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Active Stroke cycle management</span> for a better solution.. </div><div><br /></div><div>The theory i propose always gives variable  efficiency optimal according the  circumstance of operation.  </div><div><br /></div><div>Lets go to the first proposal of NP  stroke engine. </div><div><br /></div><div>N is a number where this can be 1 to any number. P denotes Power stroke, Lets explain how NP stroke engine works when N is equal to 3.</div><div><br /></div><div>The additional requirements/changes in the design is an additional  closed hot air chamber, Air injector , Heat transfer agent and injector ( ex water).</div><div><br /></div><div>Once the 4 strokes of 4 stroke engine is over , the exhaust stroke will push the air to the air chamber. Once the exhaust stroke is over, instead of another intake stroke,  1/3rd of the hot exhaust air stored in the air chamber is released to the intake .After this a  compression stroke of this air occurs. Once its compressed, a heat transfer agent is injected (ex: water ). This agent will utilize the heat in the exhaust gas and convert to a vapour form results in a power stroke. Once the power stroke is over another exhaust stroke occurs and the exhaust is send out. Again in another intake stroke the air injector injects another 1/3 of the exhaust gas and same 4 strokes occurs. Lets call these strokes as thermal energy transfer strokes. Once the 4 strokes are over, the last 1/3 is utilized t make another 4 strokes. which results in total of 12 strokes.</div><div><br /></div><div>Which means the engine gets 3 times efficient than the normal 4 stroke engine. </div><div><br /></div><div>Here a number of  questions arises : </div><div><br /></div><div>Is 3 an optimal number ? </div><div>What happens in a cold place</div><div>What happens when i drive a lot</div><div>What happens when i start the car where engine is cool.</div><div><br /></div><div>Here the second theory comes in effect. Active Stroke cycle management:</div><div><br /></div><div>This consists of a temperature sensor, a decision making logic and a control to the air injector attached to the hot air chamber</div><div><br /></div><div>The temperature sensor senses the temperature and decides the optimal number of heat exchange cycles which can be performed on the current temperature.</div><div><br /></div><div>ex: In a cold condition starting , the engine can work as normal 4 stroke, while its running heat increases and it can increase the number of thermal cycles based on the   temperature and other deciding parameters.</div><div><br /></div><div>So in a long ride, according to the temperature readings, it can control and decide N of the NP cycle engine.This will result in high efficiency engine which is according to the operating conditions</div><div><br /></div><div>By the implementation its possible to have 120mpg engines using attaching proper thermal conversion cycles to a 40 mpg capable engine. According to Merriam-Webster, aerodynamics is "a branch of dynamics that deals with the motion of air and other gaseous fluids and with the forces acting on bodies in motion relative to such fluids." Clear as mud? In this case, the fluid we're talking about is indeed air, and the easier it is for an object to cut through the air, the less energy is required to keep that body in motion.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>For the purpose of comparing different automotive designs, engineers measure the resistance of a body to flow through the air using computational fluid dynamics simulations and wind tunnel testing. A flat board held perpendicular to the air flow may have a coefficient of 1 or more, depending on the shape of the edges and the surface texture. The drag coefficient is a unitless number and is based on the shape and surface properties of the object. Two identical objects that are different sizes will have the same cD. However, that doesn't mean they have the same overall drag. </div><div><br /></div><div>This, of course, is further complicated by the vagaries of the real world. The addition of items like outside mirrors, windshield wipers and radio antennas can cause a lot of disruption to air-flow. There is also the fact that cars often don't travel perpendicular to air-flow. Vehicles often encounter cross-winds when driving down the road so the airflow must be measured at various angles to ensure resistance is kept to a minimum. </div><div><br /></div><div>Safety is also a concern.The air-flow over a vehicle's body can trigger either lift or down-force just as it does with an aircraft wing. If a vehicle's shape causes too much lift, it can make the vehicle unstable and difficult to control. For instance, the GM EV1 scored a cD of 0.195, which is quite good. For comparison, the 2010 Toyota Prius manages a fine 0.25 and the Aptera 2e (above) blows them both out of the water air with an amazingly low 0.15. When multiplied by the car's frontal area, the Aptera design scores even better due to its narrow, bullet-like shape with narrow out-rigger front wheels that are completely shrouded . For what it's worth, the brick-shaped HUMMER H2 scores a dismal 0.57 – further proof that its designers were in no way concerned with its fuel efficiency.</div><div><br /></div><div>Besides the actual bodywork of an automobile, there are other factors contributing to the overall coefficient of drag any given car is able to register, including the car's tires and its ride height. Wide tires move more air and therefore take more power to move, and the air pressure of a given tire can have drastic consequences on its ability to roll. </div><div><br /></div><div>Why is all of this so important? It helps our brains figure stuff out, because we can only manage so much information. Lumping things into bins helps get information down to a manageable level. On the continuum that is hybrid technology, we typically break things down into strong, mild and micro-hybrids. Strong hybrids include systems like Toyota's hybrid synergy drive, Ford's hybrid system and General Motors two-mode system. Micro-hybrids are really nothing more than automatic start stop systems.  Somewhere in between those groups lies the mild hybrid. The basic premise of the mild hybrid is the same as the strong hybrid. An electric motor/generator operate in parallel with the internal combustion engine to provide additional drive torque as well as regenerative braking. The primary difference lies in the power and energy capacity of the electrical side of the system. Mercedes-Benz and BMW have also co-developed a system of their own that will debut this summer on the S400 BlueHybrid and then on the new 7-series.  The GM system uses what is essentially a beefed up alternator and modified belt drive system to provide some additional drive torque to the engine as well as re-start it. Other systems, such as those from Honda and Mercedes, use a disk-shaped motor-generator sandwiched between the engine and transmission to provide the same functionality. The energy stored in the battery is being used to drive vehicle electrical systems such as audio, windows, HVAC and others. The Continental-supplied battery is mounted under-hood and is the same size as the traditional lead-acid starter battery, which is replaced by the lithium unit. In 2010, GM plans to launch a second-generation version of its mild hybrid. The new version increases the motor power from 5 to 15 kW and the current nickel metal hydride battery is replaced by a higher capacity, lighter lithium ion unit.  While a mild hybrid system can't drive the vehicle on electricity alone, it still provides benefits. Like direct injection and turbocharging, it allows the automaker to downsize the base engine while maintaining the same performance level. The combination of the reduced peak output of the engine and eliminating engine idle can contribute fuel consumption savings of up to 15 percent in urban driving and 8-10 percent overall. I said perhaps. Perhaps because I still respect the author for his writings that used to uphold the plurality and secularism of India; for all that he has written against the growing clout of the majority fundamentalism in India. But then, I wrote perhaps. Perhaps because the Haaretz article does not read like one from the celebrated author and champion of Indian plurality, who once wrote if America is the melting pot of cultures, India is more like a thali meal, where each dish has its own character and taste and yet complements each other in making the meal a satisfying repast.<br /><br />India's Israel Envy, read the title, which the author later attributed to the Israeli newspaper editors. But, for all that one understands from the piece, the title just sums up what Mr. Tharoor says in so many words-a case of sour grapes.<br /><br />Look at the words used in the first paragraph. "As Israeli planes and tanks were exacting a heavy toll on Gaza, India's leaders and strategic thinkers were watching with an unusual degree of interest - and some empathy." Unusual degree of interest and some empathy from India's leaders and strategic thinkers, it says. For all that we know, our country and most of our leaders till very recently-that is until the BJP Government opened diplomatic channels with Israel-had their sympathies with the people of Palestine, for their just cause, for all their sufferings. And even now, the right-thinking people of this country who haven't lost sense of justice have their sympathies with the cause of Palestine. So, from where does this interest-isn't it such a positive word? Like watching a cricket match? I thought we watched terrorist attacks - government-sponsored and private - with anxiety, and not interest-come from? And empathy? Well, only Mr. Tharoor knows when did our sympathies for Palestine people transform into empathy for Israel.<br /><br />Mr. Tharoor's admiration for the Israeli action becomes clear as he goes on eulogizing Israeli determination in dealing with the Hamas. As if to show that he is not the only Indian charmed by the Israeli iron fist, he writes that the Indians have been nodding in appreciation and asking "why can't we do the same?"<br /><br />He continues:<br /><blockquote>"For many Indians, the temptation to identify with Israel was strengthened by the terrorists' seizure of the Chabad House, and the painful awareness that India and Israel share many of the same enemies. India, with its 150 million Muslims, has long been a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause, and remains strongly committed to an independent Palestinian state. But the Mumbai attacks confirmed what has become apparent in recent years: The forces of global Islamist terror have added Indians to their target list of reviled "Jews and crusaders."<br />Just as Israel has frequently been attacked by rockets fired from across its border, India has suffered repeated assaults by killers trained, equipped, financed and directed by elements based next door, in Pakistan. When President George W. Bush's press secretary equated members of Hamas with the Mumbai killers, her comments were widely circulated in India."</blockquote><br /><br />After painfully building his argument that there are many parallels between India and Israel and cleverly putting India with the Western forces in the Us versus Them global war on terror, he declares: "Yet there the parallels end". And that line did make me hope that he was coming to the facts there. I thought he would tell us why we shouldn't put the terrorism in India and Israel in the same bracket. I thought he would tell us why people should stop eulogizing the Israeli determination and understand that what Israel is carrying out on Palestine and its people is another brand of terrorism-a state-sponsored, home-grown brand, and that Palestinians were forced to doing what they are doing now by decades of Israeli (with the active support and encouragement of the US) atrocities against the people of Palestine, that UN and the people of this world have been made mute-spectators to one of the worst human-right tragedies of our times.<br /><br />Instead, he goes on to build a rather baffling argument:<br /><blockquote>"Israel is a small country living in a permanent state of siege, highly security-conscious and surrounded by forces hostile to it; India is a giant country whose borders are notoriously permeable, an open society known for its lax and easygoing ways."<br /></blockquote>The problem is with our country and our people, he says. He forgets that we are fighting different issues; except for the Islamic prefix (well, then, who said Gujarat pogrom was not a terrorist activity? What about Malegaon? Babri Masjid?), there isn't much in common. I wish I were a little too naïve to think that Sashi Tharoor doesn't know these.<br /><br />What is more baffling is his parroting the Sangh Parivar line of India being a soft state. He forgets the realities. He forgets what India has been doing in fighting terrorism. He forgets that we cannot afford to have a tough-state label at the cost of basic human rights. And, most surprisingly, he doesn't talk about the causes of terrorism at all; he talks only about the symptoms and addressing the symptoms. Baffling, isn't it? A friend suggested that he might have lost his senses the moment he joined Indian politics; not that I think all our politicians are senseless, but I liked that observation for want of anything better to explain Tharoor's rather nonsensical article.<br /><br />After explaining in length about why we "cannot" do what Israel is doing; he concludes:<br /><blockquote>"Yet, when Indians watch Israel take the fight to the enemy, killing those who launched rockets against it and dismantling many of the sites from which the rockets flew, some cannot resist wishing that they could do something similar in Pakistan. India understands, though, that the collateral damage would be too high, the price in civilian lives unacceptable, and the risks of the conflict spiraling out of control too acute to contemplate such an option. So Indians place their trust in international diplomacy and watch, with ill-disguised wistfulness, as Israel does what they could never permit themselves to do."<br /></blockquote>Again, look at the words; whoever said words do matter was so right I realize as I watch, disappointed, another icon, created by powerful words, being demolished by his own words. Take the fight to the enemy, he wrote, betraying his sympathies for Israeli action. Suddenly, he sounds so pedestrian, pretends like someone who has forgotten his history lessons, like one of those next-door knicker-wallahs who make sweeping statements like every madrassas in this country has terrorists in them and should be taken out along with the terrorist camps across the border. Yeah, those knicker-wallahs have long been talking about taking a few leaves out of the Israel's anti-terrorist operations.<br /><br />Mr. Tharoor goes on to say that Indians watch Israel doing what they could never permit themselves to do, with ill-disguised wistfulness! And the reasons why we CANNOT do to Pakistan what Israel does to Palestine, the nuclear warheads Pakistan has; otherwise, we could have done what the US has done in Afghanistan and Iraq, what Israel continues to do with Palestine. As I finished reading the piece, I couldn't help wondering whether he has really lost his senses. It replaces the vehicle’s transmission with a single planetary gear and a motor/generator. A second, more powerful motor/generator is directly connected to the vehicle’s final drive. The planetary gear splits the engine’s torque between the first motor/generator and the final drive. The first motor/generator uses power from the engine to either charge the battery or supply power to the wheels. The speed of the first motor/generator determines the relative speed of the engine to the wheels. In this way, the planetary gear allows the engine to operate independently of vehicle speed, much like a CVT. The Toyota Prius and the Ford Hybrid Escape are two examples of power split hybrid vehicles.</div><div><br /></div><div>2-Mode Hybrid</div><div><br /></div><div>The 2-mode hybrid (2MHEV) is another strong hybrid system that has all-electric drive capability. The 2MHEV uses an adaptation of a conventional stepped-ratio automatic transmission by replacing some of the transmission clutches with two electric motors, which makes the transmission act like a CVT. Like the Power Split hybrid, these motors control the ratio of engine speed to vehicle speed. But unlike the Power Split system, clutches allow the motors to be bypassed, which improves both the transmission’s torque capacity and efficiency for improved fuel economy at highway speeds. This type of system is used in the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid.</div><div><br /></div><div>Plug-In Hybrid</div><div><br /></div><div>Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) are very similar to other strong hybrid electric vehicles, but with significant functional differences. The key distinguishing feature is the ability to charge the battery pack from an outside source of electricity (usually the electric grid). So we need more ways to produce, store electricity and should be affordable.<br /><br />Second, we cant eat electricity as of now. We need more food. We have more people and less land, so we need to make more food from less. Another potential area for next gen.<br /><br /><br />Health, Last day i was watching a movie on clones. The theme was like, when you take insurance policy, they will take a sample and make a clone of you. Once you need any organ or something else, they use the clones one ( saying you won a lottery move them to an island and kill them ). They never cared that all the quality jobs are vanishing. Now they are understanding that there is no customers who can afford the services/products and there is no market.<br /><br />Why ? Now she want a bit more bigger car because of the needs. Now brakes and other tuneups another $1000.<br /><br /><br />Total spending : $5500. Only maintenance expenses and no problems<br /> <br />Second car : sold old 198x Honda : Sold for $150, in hand after fees $49;<br /><br />Third car : 1998 Volvo S70 ( i fall in love in first sight but had no idea on price ). Brought for $4000. after fees etc $5000, now in tune ups and breaks, $1000 ( its not with me yet ).<br /><br />Total $6000, i searched in craigslists : price starts from $4500 to $6000. So she got option from an Australia based company). I drop her at night and go and pick her in the morning. I own a Pontiac grand AM which gives me 9.8 kmpl. We use car for transport as night its not safe for her to take public transit.Apart from this i take public transit and because of these tax additions there was a fare increase recently.<br /><br />Now Carbon tax :<br /><br />Gasoline: 2.41 cents per litre in 2008, rising to 7.24 cents per litre by 2012<br />Natural gas: 49.88 cents per GJ in 2008, rising to 149.64 cents per GJ by 2012<br /><br /><br /><br />It added around 20 cents per day to my gas bill ( as of now ). As the gas prices were sky rocking, it has null effect, still it did its job of taking money out of me. <br /><br />Canada is a cold county (kool place ) and everybody uses Gasoline/Natural gas in winter.Winter is yet to come, let me see how much more i have to pay.I am sure its going to hit me hard in winter from all places. Yes i think it was a smart move to introduce it in summer with giving a $ 100 incentive to hand.<br /><br />Fine , I pay and money is gone out of me. Now the second part starts<br /><br />Where this tax money goes ? <br /><br />Last day i was watching a TV - a news special saying Trucks go green :- Introduction of Hybrid Trucks. Wow green!! . I started listening. Some sales people talk - We are committed to go green. I was not on high speeds or my car was not bad. But i think i was a bit fast for the climate ( it was drizzling and road became slippery ). I travel the same way for last 3 yrs and never had any problems.Why it slipped on that day ? I am not sure because i travelled on same road 8.5 hrs before. lets be back to story.<br /><br />So car skid and hit the concrete barrier. Fortunately nobody got injured (yes i had my 2 year old boy in the car ) but the car got some repairs, I reported the incident to police and some towing company towed the car to ICBC.<br /><br /><br />Now the real story :<br />Dialed ICBC - The first made the claim and asked options. Then real understanding started. If i make a claim even its $100 its going to have subsequent insurance increase of 55% next year 45% second year and 35% third year and 4th year it will be back to my current rate. This means around $5000 extra to my budget over 3 years. I brought the car for $3500 2 years back.This means ICBC write off my car is going to give me $3500 max. <br /><br /><br />Afer i heard all maths from icbc i dialed one of my friend for a second <br />opanion and he revealed his story which finally end up in not claiming and fixing car himself.<br /><br />Now i started thinking, what about rich ? They own cars of $35000+, a skid means $10000 min. They also pay the same insurance extra as me if they claim ( so extra $4000 ) and $6000 for free. <br /><br />From where this money comes ? From mine and your insurance. Reason : more people take loans through consultant, the job of consultant is to get a big money,so lot people have taken more than they can afford.They all expect the money to go up and get more money out of it.<br /><br />If a home has income of 60k /annum he gets 5k per annum, in a normal scene without tax, 5 k to hand and 2.5 k for mortgage. But the fact is total money is not coming to hand, there is taxes, and then people wont consider other expenses related to home while buying (heat and hydro ). They are going very up than expected. If one person of home goes sick ? full budget to more loans.<br /><br /><br /><br />The high pay jobs are information based and they are shifting to places where there is low pay. Now how people can expect they will get paid high for providing services to the low pay people.<br /><br />Finally these people who brought houses for high money expecting somebody will buy for more money is going to end up as losers.<br /><br />The finance guy was saying : "If you need i can arrange more money ". I felt he is saying "my commission is based on how much you take". <br /><br />The realtor was saying " For buying a house: buy a house and them wait than waiting to buy a house" . I felt its this way, " i wanna get my money, so buy now".<br /><br />What i decided is wait, and not to pay a 250k worth house 500k because somebody is saying prices are high. Emerging growth investing profits don't occur overnight. The offer represents $31 a share, a 62% premium over Thursday's closing price; and Yahoo's stock price has been rising in after-hours trading. Microsoft has been making overtures to Yahoo since 2006, according to the CNet article, including a buyout offer last February that was rebuffed.
